haha try this thing called NeoBux out:

did some research and seems to be a decent non-scamming way to earn small amounts of $ for your daily kopi needs.

Ok post-exam-results-nap analysis for self-pleasure and ppl who google for modules.
Interesting prof, a must-take modules for ppl who have A levels background in physical geog (i.e. the rest dun kay kiang go and take cos confirm tio pwn-ed).
I almost kena sabo-ed by the TA who gave me a cui grade for a 20% CA but then I got the prof to re-mark it to a more decent albeit sub-par grade. Eventually everything else pulled it up. Prolly one of the best exams scripts I've written (along with the record of being the LAST EVER EXAM SCRIPT and the LONGEST EVER EXAM SCRIPT - 15 pages).
GE3880A Topics in Petroleum Geoscience (Above Expectation A-)
This is a very interesting module. Quite hands-on also. But I think the prof is not staying for long.
A bit tulan with myself for this module cos I could have pwn-ed the engine ppl (joking la). Dunno why I didn't do very well for the CAs. I had a terrible exam as well and even wrote the WRONG question number (and I chased the prof all the way to his office after the exam to clarify it). A- is definitely lucky.
GE4101A Development of Geographic Thought A (Above Expectation A)
Compulsory module so not much to say about choosing this. One thing good to have is some philosophy background (which was provided to me by USP First-tiers).
Prolly the module that I spent most time on this sem. One of the most readings I ever did (the ISM is comparable). Didn't have the best of exams thus was expecting, empirically, an A-. I think the prof bumped up the grades for everyone eventually.
GE4101B Development of Geographic Thought B (Meeting Expectation A)
The physical geog version of the above. Good to have a strong interest in physical geog and methods. Can try reading Bill Bryson's A Short History of Nearly Everything for a primer.
This is like a dream module for me. My childhood hero Darwin, my obsession with stats and positivism, all the sciency sciency stuff. Yum yum.
UIS4911 Independent Study Module (Above Expectation A)
I did the most work for this while I was still recovering from a bad illness. I think the prof was nice to me in giving me an A. Not much to talk about cos its an indepedent module.
As leaked... good results and increased CAP score.
2008/2009 Sem 1 Examination for SOCIAL SCIENCES HONOURS

RP2101 Philosophy of Exams and Results
- Everybody screws up exams, its just a matter of who screws up less.
- You are NOT what ur first sem CAP tells u u are.
- S/U option is lame. and u are a lamer if u depend on it.
- Just because you got A+ for CAs in a module with 60% CA doesn't mean that your prof wouldn't suddenly forget that CAs exist and take finals to be 100%.
- Exams are not always about writing the right stuff, sometimes writing the MOST INTERESTING stuff gives u the edge (examiners are human too)
- B+s and A-s are brothers, the only diff is that one has a better handwriting.

RP1101 - Ruby Philosophy 1101
People can be divided using two main categories - their ability and their drive.
There are two types of people: CUBES and SPHERES. Spheres are those with alot of drive, so roll easily, cubes are those who DUN have drive, damn hard to move (i.e. flip).
Ability determines the size of the cubes or spheres.
In other words, one can be either a SMALL CUBE, LARGE CUBE, SMALL SPHERE or LARGE SPHERE.
****
I think I am a LARGE CUBE. freaking smart (hohoho) but no bloody motivation. urgh.
BUT THEN dun pray pray, just when u least expect it, the bloody big cube will flip right on your face.
RP1101E - Lecture 2
There is no such thing as reincarnation (except in mmorpgs) because if there were, where did the extra souls come from????? Think 7 billion ppl today and 10,000 ppl in the past.

Haolian moment:
My natural hazards project group won a cultural landscape book from James Terry cos we had the best poster+presentation for the module - cool (and a bit ironic) right?
****
Honours Class
So far, honours class life has been better than expected but not perfect of course...
Likes
- talking cock and hanging out in the honours room
- presentations - i love presentations
- iSketch - revelation of the semester
- the challenges and debates that arise
- all the philo stuff
- slackness. hoho. amazing but true. less assignments and lectures as compared to previous sems.
- going through the same crap together with other ppl. like the 12 a.m. mass MSN bitching convos. quite uncommon to me all these while since not many ppl take the physical mods.
- 'arguing' without actually 'quarrelling'. think GJ and BY.
Dislikes (the type that you can live with)
- being forced to take particular modules. haha.
- some who copy ideas of articles and try to pass them off as their own. yes I know who you all are. i do my readings one ok?
- somewhat strict marking that screws the class up. honours no bell curve ma. why still so strict?
- ppl with the mentality "wah why this guy like that one. so competitive and unfriendly". Tch. Kindergarten ah? Honours liao still cannot take a bit extra pressure ah? I very friendly mah (hoho), ask me for help I will surely help one. But when the time to defend ur ideas comes, take it on the chin like a man (sic) and strut ur stuff la. If ur stuff is underdeveloped, u got face to collect a good grade meh? If u cannot be competitive then how to go and work next time? Some people ah... really... hai nvm. If i really intend to kill the competition, I won't be showing that I'm competitive right? *Evil grin*

Some "I" thoughts...
I don't believe that hardwork or luck is the key getting everything. I believe that wanting and believing is the key.
I am competitive. but with myself more than anything else.
I dun like to lose. but if i lose fair and square, I will respect you.
I make it look like I know everything, but I really dun =P
I believe everyone is unique in their own character and I accept most ppl for who they are.
I dun believe that anyone can be truly 'selfless', if you are, its time for your medication. haha. right kinky sauce?
I like to sensationalize things on my blog. hoho.

Mixed feelings now. Got back an exceptionally good grade for 4101A (considering its human geog) but with less than 72 hrs before my 5000 word report is due.
Thank God for my optimism.
This sem started badly with a screwed up grade for hazards (given by the TA; eventually remarked 'upwards' by the Prof upon my request). B- wor (please dun shoot me). Quite easily one of the worst grade I've gotten since year 1 (yes, space time matter). Then the B+ for 4101A presentation, which isn't that bad but I wanted more to buffer for my lack of depth during the exams.
At that point I really wanted to say "haiya, 2nd upper la. now just relax". Then the inner ME spoke and said: "haiyo dun be a loser la. just pia la. will die meh?"
Only recently did things get better:
Back to back A+s for petroleum tutorials,
A for hazards poster (which val says is the only one),
A for 4101B proposal,
A+ for 4101A individual.
Back to my old ways.
BUT. I dun feel so good abt it. There are ppl who need the grades but are getting really bad luck from the 4101 modules. I feel that there isn't that much different in the quality of work but just that the profs need some kind of distinction between the small differences in quality leading to really bad grades dished out. I will be sibei sian too if I kena. Hai.
****
Massa lost by one point. Now I feel abit like Massa. The C+ for space, time matter, and the Bs for Econs and Environmental Change in the Tropics may come back and haunt me after all.
Even if I get 5.0 again this sem. my cap will be 4.49. Ominous hor?
Why why why? Why did I throw so many As away? Now say also too late. But then its always fun to come from behind to snatch the victory.
Let me do a Hamilton.
